Hazard trees are those with defects that present an unacceptable “risk” to a target whether it is people, pets, property or infrastructure. The level of risk may vary depending on many factors including tree lean, tree species, shape and condition, wind exposure, soil moisture, soil structure and construction disturbance.

Decay and construction damage are two of the leading causes of tree failure. Sometimes the presence and/or extent of decay can go unnoticed and usually the homeowner only notices obvious defective, dead or dying trees.

Only a certified arborist can truly examine a tree and determine the level of risk it presents in its current condition. Our experience education and knowledge allows us to study a tree and highlight hazards, structural defects and decay or diseases that would go unnoticed by the untrained observer.

Hazard tree or branch removal in a controlled fashion is our specialty. We combine our experience and knowledge of tree science to assess every unique situation. We then design a plan to execute climbing and proven rigging skills for removal using the safest, most comprehensive technique possible.

We determine the degree of risk by carefully conducting an inspection of the tree roots, trunk flare, trunk, branch unions and crown for the presence of insect damage, cankers, shearing cracks, buckling, included bark, structural defects, deadwood, decay, fungus and surrounding soil mounding. Our knowledge of tree species, wood properties and possible defects including insect and disease infestation allows us to determine the risk involved in the removal process and the methods we will employ to remove the tree in the safest way possible.
